International Workshop on "Impact of Climate Change on Agriculture"

Our mission:

Our working group (WG) deals with agriculture, vegetation, ecosystem, wetland, and biodiversity. Our goal is to promote the role of remote sensing and other geoinformation tools towards sustainable development of agriculture and allied resources; conservation of ecosystem; and understanding the impact of climate change on vegetation. Towards this, the WG plans to conduct many activities, including workshops, tutorials, special publications, etc. in order to bring all the stakeholders to a common platform for the purpose of achieving the goals of the WG.

Terms of Reference:

  • Define protocols and methodologies to efficiently and economically utilize remote sensing inputs for global and regional monitoring of crop production, crop vigor, and stresses.
  • Development of techniques towards use of remote sensing data and GIS tools for site-specific management of agriculture.
  • Development of techniques towards use of remote sensing data and GIS tools for monitoring and analyzing human impacts on natural resources.
  • Improve the knowledge of carbon and nutrient cycle in vegetation.
  • Study and monitor biophysical processes in agro-ecosystems using both polar and geostationary satellite data.
  • Study and promote vegetation bio-diversity and sustainable application with respect to the conservation of bio-diversity.
  • Improve regional/global monitoring of mangroves using remote sensing data.
  • Integrate remote sensing data, in-situ observation along with GIS tools to facilitate study of wetlands, and monitor spatial and temporal changes in the wetland ecosystem in support of sustainable development in wetlands.
  • Assessment of climate change impact on vegetation and other ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with GEO and take part in GEO task where appropriate.
