ISPRS WG VIII/6 and VIII/8

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS)
is devoted to promote international cooperation, co-ordination and advancement of photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information
sciences and their applications for global development (www.isprs.org ).
All the scientific and technical activities of ISPRS are being conducted through its 8 technical commissions.
Technical Commission VIII on "Remote Sensing Applications and Policies" has 10 working groups. The sixth working group (WG VIII/6) is on
"Agriculture, Ecosystem and Biodiversity". This working group deals with agriculture, vegetation, ecosystem, wetland, biodiversity and climate change
impact assessment (www.commission8.isprs.org/wg6/). The eighth working
group (WG VIII/8) is on "Land". This working group deals with land cover and land cover change, urban systems, land degradation and
desertification, and the ecohydrology and management of arid and semiarid lands
(www.commission8.isprs.org/wg8/).
ISRS

Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), established in 1969, is a premier society in the country to help towards advancement,
dissemination and application of the knowledge of remote sensing technology in the fields of mapping, planning and management of natural resources
and environment by organising seminars/symposia and by publishing a quarterly journal (Journal of Indian Society of Remote Sensing),
bulletins, proceedings, etc. Starting with 56 members, the Society has now grown into a premier professional body with membership of over
4000 members. Currently, ISRS is a Category 6 member of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing
(www.isrsindia.org).
ISRS is organizing its annual symposium in Bhopal during November 9 to 11, 2011, following the ISPRS workshop
